     Albanian fruits and vegetables may be "unknown" in the world but many Europeans actually eat Albanian produce as part of their breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. Below is a traditional Albanian dish made from delicious Albanian produce.

Tave Kosi (photo: right) is a traditional dish of Elbasan, Albania. The dish is made with lamb, yogurt, and rice baked in a mixture of eggs and yogurt. A usually side dish for Tave Kosi is a Greek salad (photo: left).

500grams (1.1lbs) of Lamb Meat

 

 

 

1.

Wash the lamb and sparingly rub in oil and salt.

 

 

 

2 Tablespoons of Corn Starch

Bake the lamb at 200C/400F for 40 minutes.

 

 

 

2 Tablespoons of Butter

 

 

 

3.

Stir eggs, yogurt, and corn starch in separate bowl.

 

 

 

800-1000grams (1.75-2.2lbs) Yogurt

 

 

 

4.

Boil water in the pan, with the lamb, and add rice plus the egg/yogurt/corn starch mixture.

 

 

 

3 Cups of Water

 

 

 

5.

Do not stir ingredients.

 

 

 

3 Cups of Rice

 

 

 

6.

Leave ingredients in the pan until the top becomes reddish in color.
